The History of the Kirk Collection:
When we decided to adopt a child in 1987, we knew one of us would need to stay home. Bill volunteered; he was ready for a change. We began The Kirk Collection by collecting and selling antique quilts, first out of our home, then expanding to regional antique shows. We also got our son Ben, who was four years old, in April of that year.
Two years later, Bill found two truckloads of old fabric at an auction, and our business took an unexpected turn. Hollywood costumers were always looking for the right period fabrics, and there we were! Kirk Collection fabrics were soon adorning characters in T.V. shows like , Brooklyn Bridge and Homefront. Our fabrics were also used in a number of movies, including Little Women, Forrest Gump and Titanic.
When we reserved a spot at the National Quilting Association's annual meeting in Lincoln, Nebraska, we discovered that quilters liked our fabrics, too! About that same time, daughter Jessica joined our family.
In 1992, we opened the Kirk Collection shop in an old-fashioned storefront in Omaha, and started our mail order catalog, which you are holding now. While building our business, we also started to host annual Quilt Restoration Workshops held each year, and later the Crazy Quilt Society and its annual conference held each year in June in Omaha. Life is never dull at the Kirk Collection. We're glad you're part of it!
We moved the business to our home on Sept. 1, 2000. Here is the view from the front window.

I absolutely love working at home. I also home school our daughter Jessica which is much easier when you are home.
Bill Kirk died in August of 2003 and the business has been changing every since. Nancy now focuses on designing, writing, producing videos, teaching and appraising, and has moved the inventory part of the business to a distribution center in Houston which has freed up a lot of space in the dining room!
We sold the antique fabric portion of the business to Flinda Terteling at antiquefabric.com -- she is wonderful on customer service and you will enjoy working with her.
We're open on-line 24/7. If you need something special which is not listed on the website, feel free to call us at 800-398-2542 between 9 and 5 Central Time.
